Sunset over Churchill
After long winter weeks without any glimpse of sun, in March the clouds occasionally began to break. As this was one of the first sunsets I'd seen in a quite a while, I thought it was worth commemorating.

Punting on the Cam
A day I had taken my camera along into town, largely because of that strange blue backdrop you see here -- the sky's not normally that colour in Cambridge. With the first rays of spring sun comes the tourist season, so the punts are out in force. Punting is a lovely tradition of propelling a flat-bottomed boat down a river by pushing a long stick against the river bottom, which usually involves getting the stick stuck, dropping it, madly trying to paddle the boat about to retrieve the stick, cursing, drawing laughter and jeers from lookers-on, etc. Of course, for a little extra money you can have an experienced punter move you up and down the river, and most of these pole-pushing chauffeurs double as tour guides (and this isn't so bad a way to see the colleges, frankly).
