Component Tests…

·         Deterioration modeling and planning for the shaking table test at University at Buffalo NY necessitates a series of component tests.  The objective of the shaking table test is to simulate behavior of a typical steel frame structure at a scale of 1:8.

·         A comprehensive component testing program is established in which the length/thickness ratio of dogbone plates that represent plastic hinge regions is varied systematically. The testing program is carried out at Stanford University, using an available universal testing machine and beam-column subassemblies as test specimens.

·         Fifty specimens have been tested, with each specimen having dogbone plates that are instrumented with strain gages to serve as calibration gages for the shaking table test structure.
