He is a Child of the Light
sent to awaken those who sleep....
The gentleness of his soul
is the might of God;
The forgiveness of his heart
is the love of the Christ.
Forever has this been,
forever shall it be....
Peace be unto you.
-Daniel-

So long ago does it now seem,
that I first happened upon him.
And though he has been my traveling
companion through out the eons of time;
He remains still a mystery, as
distant as the starlit night and as
close as my next loving thought.
Always has he been there, and
yet when I set out to look for him,
he is nowhere to be found.
He dwells upon the winds of my
soul and we are forever bound, as we
walk upon the earth and through the misty
valleys of soul.
He is the beloved seed planted
within my heart, the mystic counsel
to my inner-self and protector of my
outer-self.
And though my name may change
from age to age, his shall remain
ever constant, for it belongs to my
True-Self.
He is the Spirit Man, and when
self shall give up his need of being,
And soul gives up its dominion
also, evil and suffering shall pass away;
And Spirit Man will ascend the
Throne of Being and rule through eternal love.

The outer man is forever lost
within the illusion of earthly desire.
He knows of no other life than
the one of senses, and drifts through
eternity only dreaming that he is alive.
Thus, being content with merely
a dream, his eyes are shut to the
world belonging to soul,
And rarely, if ever, does he
listen unto the urgings of the Spirit Man.
He builds his castle upon the
sandy shores, only to fall folly to
the tidings of the surf.
And in the end, all that he
has accomplished is washed from the
eyes of man.

The inner man's life can be
one of constant pain and turmoil or
that of eternal joy;
For it is here upon the path
of the soul that man's free will does lie.
Forever are his choices and
the perils that follow the fleeting
untamed thought;
And each must eventually slay
the dragon of his own soul.
But so much easier is it for
soul to follow the calling of self
and to taste of its pleasures,
Than to climb the mountain pass,
hand in hand with the Spirit Man.
One path leads to the fulfillment
of the inner man's highest ideal,
and anoints his soul with Love.
The other will lead him astray,
and deliver him unto the illusion of death.

But no matter upon which path
the soul does tread, Spirit Man is
there to guide, to comfort and to
heal...
Ever spurring his sleeping
brothers on, even unto their own
salvation.
And when soul would race towards
the Light with an unknown urgency,
Spirit Man is there to patiently
hold him back;
Least he share the fate of the
moth dancing upon the candle's flame.
And when he descends into the
blackness and becomes lost within
the shadowy caverns of self,
Spirit Man is there also;
and with the wings of Love would he
lift man up,
And with the Light of God;
replenish his soul.
When soul cries out in anguish,
from the depths of his disbelief,
Spirit Man shall answer and
Doubt will be cast aside, that
Faith might be born anew.
And when self reaches out for
direction and knows not where to turn,
Spirit Man is there to gently
lead him back to the center of his soul;
That he might come face to
face with his own loving reflection.
He is there when selfish prayers
are spoken, and when selfless prayers
are answered;
When the soul cries out for understanding
and self calls forth for comfort.
And always is he there when soul
and self would speak the holy name of
God in harmony.
He was there when self urged
soul to walk upon the earth.
He guided their way, holding
up his lantern of Love for all to see.
And when soul grew weary and
longed for the distant shores of Home,
It was Spirit Man who carried
him through the mist and delivered him
unto the sacred spring of his birthplace.
Spirit Man is there to heal
the sickness of self, and thereby
restore man to continue his journey
towards the fulfillment of soul.
And he is there also to mend
the broken dreams of soul, that drift
aimlessly upon the weeping of the wind.
And when soul would sit in
stillness and thirst for that which
he does not yet comprehend,
Spirit Man is there to fill
his cup with the waters drawn from
Wisdom's flowing fountain,
That soul might be left with
still a deeper thirst to quench.

He is the Light that refuses
to be hidden, the Truth that cannot
be destroyed.
He is the far off voice of the
mountains, that self would have soul deny.
He is the gentle thought that
lingers upon the pure and loving
heart, the hidden Master to all things good.
He is the well-spring of soul's
deepest desire and the provider of
man's every need.
And when Spirit bids unto the
yearning of soul, hesitate not;
But follow the secret song of
your heart and turn your back upon
the pleadings of self.
For when Spirit and soul would
walk together as one, self has no
choice but to follow.
And though he may come cursing
and crying down the road of Peace,
He has not the power to change
the destiny of Spirit, soul or self;
For destiny can never be altered,
but only prolonged.
When soul heeds unto the calling
of Spirit Man,
He walks in the shadow of God
and fears not a world drowning in darkness.
But as soul gives in to the
urgings of self,
He strays from the path of
goodness, only to become ensnared
by thought impure.
And there, through the wilderness,
shall he wander with self, his blind guide;
Until soul again calls out his
Brother's name.
And though his values be tattered
and torn, though his heart
be aflame with anger and his life
engulfed in hatred,
The Spirit Man still answers
and cannot be turned away when soul
would cry out his name for comfort.
He shall loosen the bonds of slavery.
Indeed, he will buy back his
very freedom with an angelic tear;
And tenderly shall the Spirit
Man walk with soul back to the path
of Truth and lead him in the ways of
Righteousness forevermore.

Deep within the holy walls
of soul dwells the Spirit Man,
quietly watching and waiting for
the day of his coronation.
Patience is his master, as
he whispers of his existence unto
the world of soul and self.
And so, if you would hurry
along the dawn of his sacred birth;
Walk then the path of your
soul with Forgiveness and Love as
your traveling companions.
For with Forgiveness shall
you forget those who have bruised
your spirit with the heavy fists
of ignorance,
And trampled your desires
with the sharpened hoofs of arrogance.
But with Love, shall you remember
those who have caressed your hidden-self,
And fed your starving heart
with their unspoken hopes and dreams.

And the Spirit Man shall
smile, saying....
