THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH

Though we be apart,
we are but a heartbeat away.
I have come to share a Truth
upon this blessed day.
Yea, though we walk through the Valley of
the Shadow of Death...
Hand in hand did Love and Faith walk upon the path of Life,
and never was there a time when one was without the other.
Together were they complete and the Light of God shown forth
from the very essence of their Being to bless and to bathe
the world with purpose.
But the Prince of Darkness could not bear the Light and swore
to separate Love from Faith that the Light might die and leave
him to rule the Darkness for all eternity.
Unto Love did he send the curse of sickness and pain,
but Love persevered and refused to tire;
and Faith was forever with her as she suffered in silence,
that the Light might live to keep the Darkness at bay.
So in a fit of rage did the Prince of Darkness command the
elements of evil to seize and slay the tenderness of Love;
but Faith held tight unto Love and called forth the Light
with which to battle the impending Darkness.
And with a mighty voice did he command the Light to protect
Love from all evil,
and so it was that Love survived.
But the Prince of Darkness only laughed at Love and Faith,
scoffing and belittling their collective hidden might, saying:
"Your Light is nothing compared to the Darkness of my power
and I will destroy you both in the Valley of the Shadow of Death!"
And he sent forth tribulation after tribulation to wear
down the steadfastness of Faith.
But try as the Darkness would to shake the very foundation
upon which Faith stood, he remained forever vigilant and strong;
and when Love was too weak to pass through the Valley of the
Shadow of Death, Faith carried her through that awful wasteland.
And there were they met by the Prince of Darkness and by the terror
of Death as they waited to seize Love and destroy Faith for all time.
But Faith stared back into the lifeless eyes of Death and said:
"It shall not be so, for with faith do I say unto you...
There is no death!"
And Death retreated back into the shadows, leaving only the
Prince of Darkness to bar the way of Love and Faith.
And Faith spoke unto him:
"You have no power here, for what is Darkness other than
the absence of Light?"
And together did Love and Faith command:
"Let there be Light!"
...Thus causing the Prince of Darkness to fade into nothingness
as the Light of Love and Faith shone brightly forth for all to see.
And then Love declared unto the world:
"Look not back upon the darkness that was,
but rather greet the sunrise of what shall be...
...with Love and Faith."
