THE ENEMY WITHIN

Though we be apart,
we are but a heartbeat away.
I have come to share a Truth
upon this blessed day.
Our Father forgives us daily,
how is it that we cannot?
These words apply not only to our reaction to the thoughts and
deeds of others but must also include the forgiving and rising above
our own misdeeds and shortcomings to embrace ourselves and all
others with the healing balm of Unconditional Love.
So easy is it to befriend pain and embrace suffering but as we
do this, we also invite another into the house of our soul...
...Bitterness;
and he becomes master, bent on the total destruction of
Hope, Faith and Love.
He begins his work in the shadow of our thoughts...
anger and worthlessness are his tools and he will not
rest until he has slain the Peace of Compassion that
resides within.
It brings tears of sadness to see a good and kindly person change
without ever being aware of the destructive nature of these demons.
They lose the Light of Love, becoming enslaved by their own
unwillingness to be set free and like begets like.
They draw to them, others who are also in pain and their demons rise
together in power, binding and brutalizing their victims even further.
Bitterness, anger and futility if left unchecked will devastate the
physical body and lay waste to the garden of the soul.
These are the dragons that each of us must slay,
but the soul must first recognize the enemy and then
melt them away with Unconditional Love.
Thus the Master's words ring true...
...'Love thine enemies.'
