Lane Library is part of the School of Medicine's Office of Information Resources and Technology. Lots of new initiatives and a new facility are in the works!

In fall 2003, I was designated liaison to Stanford's Dept. of Comparative Medicine, which will take advantage of my undergraduate zoology degree from the University of Oklahoma.

I contribute to Lane's databases which emphasize inter-record relationships:
Community Information File (Authority File)
Lane's informational file of people, places, organizations, terminology, etc.
LOIS (Lane Online Information System)
Lane's "catalog" of periodicals, articles not in PubMed, books, book chapters, audiovisuals, etc. in all formats

Special projects, time permitting:
Medlane Project
Experimentation with XML in libraries and related resources.
XOBIS
Our experimental RELAX-NG schema for restructuring bibliographic and authority information.

Professional activities and interests:
Co-authored Putting XML to Work in the Library with Kevin Clarke, published by ALA Editions, Oct. 2003.
Long-time member of the Medical Library Association and its Medical Informatics and Technical Services sections.
Correlation of IFLA's Functional Requirements of Bibliographic Records (FRBR) and ICOM CIDOC's Conceptual Reference Model (CRM) with XOBIS is intriguing.
