Research Interest
My research interests include Computer Aided Design (CAD) of VLSI circuits. I am
interested in the problems (especially in floorplanning and placement) emerging
due to device scaling. In particular I am developing architectural techniques to improve the
runtime performance of thermal-aware floorplanners. I am also probing the impact of thermal
optimization through whitespace reallocation on circuit delay. Another area which
has fascinated my imagination is leakage-power aware thermal modeling and floorplanning. I am also
developing a novel approach to fixed-outline floorplanning that is capable of overcoming the
drawbacks of conventional fixed-outline floorplanners.
In short, I find interest in circuit
optimization related work and have employed metaheuristics such as Genetic Algorithms and Particle
Swarm Optimization Approach in some of my research work. I believe that optimization through
Geometric Programming provide immense opportunity to solve some of the emerging circuit
optimization problem.
