Welcome to the blog of Can Sar, a Stanford CS major. This blog is made up of my thoughts on Computer Science and the computer industry, as well as ever exciting tales from my life.
Yesterday was rather ridiculous and not too productive. First of all, I just realized that my US to Europe Plug Converter, is slightly too tight for my laptop plug to fit, so I am now filing a part of it away, cause I don't think I'll be able to buy one here. Unfortunately, after filing and cutting away on it for about two hours, I tried to fit the plug, and while it wasn't far enough to work, it was far enough to get stuck. I tried to get it out for about half an hour, without success. Fortunately Donald, my former roommate came and helped me, and we figured it out. With a bit more cutting and filing I can now use the plug and therefore my laptop. I haven't really done much on it yet, but have discovered that there is little APM support on it.
I also have to say that it seems like I lost all of my posters, which sucks severely. For now I have some pictures up, and am of course working on putting up more. I realized that hanging up pictures a bit irregularly can look really interesting. Because of this, I am now filling one wall with irregularly arranged pictures from some of my trips. I also need to remember to scale some of them differently, and have different border sizes. I also have a pretty amazing drawer set up, where I arranged them in the form of a stair, with three stacked drawers, next to two drawers, next to one drawer. The lower two levels can be used for sitting. This also means that I have a total of six drawers instead of three, which is quite useful. I still need a fridge, and maybe a lamp (around $8 at target), and my room will be perfect. I will post pictures, as soon as my iPod arrives, and I can offload some of my music onto it, as I am completely out of space on my laptop (I get a warning every 20 minutes).
Now to my waking up. Yesterday we saw a spider in the room, but then lost track of it, before we could rid of it, so I had a feeling it was still in the room. After around three hours of sleep I got rolled out at 7:30 by the West Lag staff, and saw that the spider was on the wall right next to my bed. I got up and threw it out, and now its finally gone, but in retrospect I'm really glad about the rollout.
Classes started today, but I don't have any yet. I am a bit worried about not taking enough classes, but I will get things figured out soon.
