Welcome to the blog of Can Sar, a Stanford CS major. This blog is made up of my thoughts on Computer Science and the computer industry, as well as ever exciting tales from my life.
I'm all packed up and ready for Spain. I had to double check if our hotel reservations for Barcelona and Madrid were for the right dates (we had to change our travel schedule a bit), and fortunately, everything worked out perfectly. Nine days in Spain should be very relaxing indeed, and I have been feeling enthusiastic and inspired today. I finished up Great Expectations, which I read after having seeing the fabulous movie adaptation (I had bought the book long ago), and must say that I enjoyed both very much.
I also finished up the book on Zen gardens that Nora gave me for Christmas. It is the second book I have read on the topic, but the author himself spent a more than a decade on cultivating his own Zen garden in the French country side, which gave it a very personal touch. I continue to be intrigued by Zen gardens and beautiful gardens in general, and am hoping to see more of both in the future. I do, however, think that I have read enough books on Zen gardens for now, and shall move on to other topics. Because of this I am taking The Sound and the Fury to Spain as travel reading.
For those of you who are noticing that my reading is getting less technical I should add that I read about half a chapter of my Virtual Machine book today, and will finish it when I get back. And since the GREs are coming up next quarter, I need to polish up my English...
GREs??? But.. you're only going to be a junior!! Anyway, have fun in Spain (:
I'll miss you on aim.
Good luck with zee English--I really liked 'The Sound and the Fury' when I read it last summer (although the atmosphere was Walter's room in the basement of Roble, rather than Spain, so perhaps I had less exciting things around to distract me).

Posted by swamp on August 6, 2004 06:22 PMHa. Sorry for the double-post, I thought it didn't go through the first time. Now this post looks, like, four times more popular than it did when I had yet to comment on it.
