Welcome to the blog of Can Sar, a Stanford CS major. This blog is made up of my thoughts on Computer Science and the computer industry, as well as ever exciting tales from my life.
The first time I heard of Under the Tuscan Sun on the Apple Trailers Website (one of my favorite websites, btw) I thought it was some new Star Wars movie, as Tuscan Raider's are infamous Star Wars creatures. Though none of the usual Star Wars actors were in it, I would not have put this past George Lukas. I then proceeded to watch the trailer and realized that Tuscany is what we call Toskana, a very pretty region in Italy.
More seriously, Nora and I yesterday saw Under the Tuscan Sun at a summer open air theatre. The wheather was quite cold, which led to a sad turnout at the theatre. But still, there is nothing like sitting outside under the stars while watching a movie. The movie itself was nice and entertaining, with very beautiful Italian landscapes, and a great sense of what is beautiful about rural Italy. There was some treatment of some sarcastic treatment of some customs and habits, and the movie was sometimes unintentionally amusing, and some of the philosophical voice overs were a bit overdone. But that is the cynic in me speaking, because for the most part, the movie was very positive and refreshing, without trying to be preachy. Overall, it was a great evening, and if you have time, you should give the movie a try.
