Long Line of Cars

If you want to know how spinning your car out of control feels like, read on. After getting an Austrian driver's license, every driver is now required to take part in an secure driving program, that shows you what happens when your wheels start slipping, or you somehow otherwise lose control of your car. All of this happens in a semi-controlled manner, but the first time you hit the brakes while trying to maneuver around an obstacle and your wheels completely lose grip is quite a shock nonetheless.
This Friday me an Nora spent the entire day accelerating our cars up to 50 km/h as fast as possible, then driving straight until an obstacle (usually some kind of water spraying from an outlet in the ground) suddenly appeared an then trying to brake and/or maneuver around it. We sheared this activity with eight other young drivers and spent a considerable time waiting behind other cars for our turn to come. About 80% of the training was spent slightly advancing the car after a person before you had moved ahead, while trying to avoid anyone behind you crashing into your car because of carelessness (people had a habit of driving while watching other people).

holy crap, is this for real? is it all in your car, or do they provide the car?

This was all real and in my "own" (my Dad's) car. It was a lot of fun, though a bit scary at first.
