Philosophical Deadend

I wasted this afternoon on weblog designing and philosophical discussions. It got to the point where I could not sleep because of being aggravated about the argument. My neighbor tried to argue that it was not legitimate to abridge the right of an individual to save a million lives, and that negative rights were inherent and unalterable. While I believe that there must be unalterable rights that cannot be violated, I do not believe that these are created out of nothing. Though the specific case were discussing was so detached from reality and devoid of practicality I was affected by my inability to get him to see my point.
After discussing some things with Doug, I think I am at the point where I can fall asleep. Whether absolute truth exists or not, it is impossible to agree on it, and closing one's mind to the arguments of the other is exactly what is wrong, as illustrated in my post back during Christmas. I for one will consider the things discussed, and will have to learn to stop being so preoccupied with arguments, and letting them bring me down.

I have much studying to do tomorrow, and I will need all my strength to do well. I will reset my alarm clock to 9 instead of 8.
