Welcome to the blog of Can Sar, a Stanford CS major. This blog is made up of my thoughts on Computer Science and the computer industry, as well as ever exciting tales from my life.
It is Saturday morning and I am still alive.
Last week I had a CS 242 Problemset, an E40 Problemset, a CS 143 Problemset, a CS 147 Essay, an E40 Prelab and a CS 143 program due. I also had an STS midterm.
At the end of the week I was almost ready to give up, but Thursdays miraculous solution to the problem of parsing the "let" statement in Cool gave me new strength.
Yesterday I went to the Panther launch with Tristan, Albert and Lora, and we had lots of fun. There were lots of crazy Mac people waiting in line with us, and some were genuinely scary. I did of course not buy Panther, but instead got it from the Stanford Bookstore, thereby saving me $60. I also met Eugenia from OSNews and her husband, which was very cool, because OSNews is one of my favorite websites. I am currently writing a Panther review that will hopefully be published there.
After that I went to the French House party with Lora and Albert where we saw Kat, Candace and Michael and had lots of fun. The French House is great, and I should go there more often. Unlike other parties which are usually lame, the French House Cafe Night has Jazz musicians, good food and is just great for hanging out.
For the weekend I have to study for my three midterms next week and I plan to finish my E40 Prelab and CS 242 problemset. The latter might be a bit difficult, but since the material will be covered on the midterm I feel that it is a good idea. Studying for CS 143 mostly means reading the Dragon book and doing the practice exams. There are still concepts in parsing that I am not entirely sure about. Lexing on the other hand should not be a problem at all. I will see how it goes.
