A Quick Trip to Montpellier

We took the TGV to Montpellier this morning, which took 25 minutes. It was very different from Nimes, starting with the large number of tourists. Most of the people that passed by us spoke a language other than French, which does not happen much in Nimes outside the youth hostel. The weather was hot as usual, but we walked very far anyway. Montpellier's proximity to the Cote 'd Azur was definitely apparent - the entire place was full of palm trees, even in front of the court building. The town has a large roman aquaduct (which is definitely not the right word), and lots of old statues and buildings worth taking pictures of. We spent lots of time sitting in the shade in gardens near various fountains.
Speaking of fountaints, fountains are one of the best things in life, as every Stanford student should now. There should be more fountains in Vienna.
Because we could not arrive at the hostel in time for dinner we ate at a McDonald's in Montpellier which was abysmal. For some reason McDonald's quality in France varies greatly, unlike in Austria where it is always great, or the US where it is always bad.
In more positive news I did find some time to check out Loro summer mafia and it looks like people are having lots of fun. Oh, and Lora is coming to Paris on Tuesday, which is too late for us to meet up with her, but it's still a nice coincidence.
Nora is also thinking about buying an iBook, and I wanted to ask all of you who have one, what you think about its speed. Is it fast enough, or would you recommend something better?
Tomorrow is our last full day in France, after that we will be heading to London.

Montpelier!? I didn't know France was so close to Vermont!

...

Uh, so anyway, do international students get to move into the dorms early every year, or is that just a freshman year orientation thing? 'cause if it's not, then I could move my stuff in when you arrive, and we could have our full setup before whatsisname gets there.
