Welcome to the blog of a Stanford CS major. Please give me feedback on the new design, and ideas on what to call this blog .
Nimes definitely is a better place than Roanne. If you are thinking about going to either of the two, choose Nimes.
Yesterday evening we were taken to the youth hostel by some crazy french dude who looked like Tom Fullner, that asked us if we wanted to hitch hike to the hostel (500 meters up a hill). We decided to go because he was accompanied by a young woman and seemed pretty friendly. He took us to the hostel up the hill, accompanied by the sound of his old car nearly breaking down and fighting for every meter up the hill. After we arrived he turned around and went the other way. The french can be really awesome.
Today was hot. Not nearly as hot as Paris, but everytime we were exposed to the sun, we immediately had to flee into the shade again. Speaking of shades, it seems like Blinde optics is selling Matrix sunglasses for 75 dollars, which is more expensive than on eBay, but now I can actually try them on in a store, before deciding not to buy them.
We spent some time just walking around and going into random shops and then went to a shopping center called Les Halles, which was a lot smaller than the original in Paris. They did however have a McDonalds that had electronic locks on the door to the bathroom, so that people who did not pay could not enter (you had to go and ask someone for the number, that you then typed in). I was very much annoyed by the incredible stupidity and unfriendliness of this system.
We had lunch in the Jardin de Fontaines, wich had wonderful waterworks, and provided lots of opportunities for taking pictures. But just like in Paris, the heat did make walking around very difficult. Nimes is still a wonderful place to be, and the hostel is just great, especially eating dinner outside in the beautiful botanic garden.
Oh, and while in Roanne I finished the design for BattleFungus, which was really important, because neither me nor Tristan could work on it, without really knowing how the main classes would interact in the end. I hope Tristan will like my idea. Tomorrow we are going to Montpellier by train, it should be fun.
Can! My family is going to Europe (kind of a spur-of-the-moment trip)! We're arriving in Paris on Tuesday, we're staying in a "cottage" on the left bank for four days before going to London!
Let me know if you're going to still be in France and if so, if we can meet up in Paris or something! That would be awwwweeeesoooommmmmmeeeee!!

P.S.-- How are you updating while on travel? I need to figure out how to access the internet while not in my normal sphere so I can still keep in touch.
P.P.S-- Online Mafia is fun and addictive. When you get in next round, you're going to love it. :o)
