Welcome to the blog of Can Sar, a Stanford CS major. This blog is made up of my thoughts on Computer Science and the computer industry, as well as ever exciting tales from my life.
I've been reading The Design of UNIX Opreating System by Bach recently, I finished the first 150 pages today, which mainly dealt with the file system, and file processing. The book is easy to read, which is a really nice change from TCP/IP Illustrated. For now I've laid Volume 2 away till Friday, when I will hopefully be finished with the Bach book. I will then post a comprehensive review of the entire book, which I can definitely recommend to anyone who wants an introduction to the workings of classical UNIX System V.
I also had my second driving lesson today, which went very well. My first one was a bit frustrating, because my instructor was not that great, but my new instructor is great. I've been switching gears and driving around quite speedily on the parking lot. Though the theory part (32 hours) of the course is extremely annoying (due to the large number of people making annoying comments about speeding and not needing exhaust pipes, because it makes the car slow), the driving lessons are a lot of fun. On Tuesday I'll be going on the road the first time, and this weekend I will go and practice with my dad on a special area, where it is legal to drive without a license. The only thing I have to remember when driving is not thinking as much as I do right now.
