The Music Is Still Alive

I went to a Jazz Festival with Nora, and Martina, and some others. I had more ideas today than in the last few weeks combined, but more about that tomorrow. For now I am happy to say that music as an art still exists. Though things like American Idol and endlessly repetitive mainstream stuff like "In Da Club" have gone a long way in destroying music, it can still be found in some places. The artist was Mike Ottis, an Austrian Jazz Musician, who combined computer music with classical Jazz, to produce an amazing sound and atmosphere. Though the show included three restarts of Windows on the laptop running the background music (which was on stage, as an instrument), the music went on without any problems. I hadn't been to a concert in a long time, it seems like it is time for me to check out culture again.

Music is definitely still alive; the problem is that the good stuff doesn't tend to get as much mass-distribution as the least-common-denominator pop crap. I'm going to a Phish concert on Wednesday; I'm really looking forward to it. This will actually be my first non-classical music concert.
