Yosemite 9/24-25/98 with John Black

We hiked up North Dome Gully and traversed over to the
top of the Awhanee Buttress, where John has been working
on a new route over the past several years.  It is a finish
to Sons of Yesterday which should be an improvement to the
Awhanee Buttress finish (which is quite dirty with a wet
wide crack).  We spent 2 days cleaning dirt and moss clumps
from the middle 2 of 4 pitches.  Ice axes and goggles were
the tools of choice.  Hopefully we will return soon to finish
the cleaning and climb the route in its new state.
