6. Yosemite Valley 10/95, with Renata, Skyler, Susan Coons, her husband Tom, and her daughter Laura. Susan called us from the Valley saying they were there for a week and hoping to import some climbing partners, so we drove in on Saturday night. It was quite cold, and to save time, the kids slept in the back of the station wagon, which they considered a big thrill. We searched the Camp 4 boulders for Susan + family, and eventually found them at Swan Slab, where we toproped Grant's Crack 5.9 and a 5.10c face -- fairly nice. We then hiked out to Little Wing (my idea), where we toproped Leisure Time 5.10b (Susan couldn't make a reach in the middle), and the kids got to take big swings into space on the toprope. Not really an ideal place for kids (i.e. worrisome for parents), but we survived it.
