Mickey's Beach 2/18/90 Planned trip to Joshua Tree was washed out, but Wags called me up on Sunday night, announcing clear weather, so I couldn't refuse with my cabin fever. We worked on Flounder, Scorpio, and Turgidifier again, and still didn't top out on anything. The rock was drier this time, and it was windless, sunny, and clear out to the Farallons -- gorgeous weather. Nancy also came with Renata, but they spent their time at the beach where Renata really enjoyed running around naked, playing with a pet bunny, etc. Wags managed to work out the moves on the upper part of Scorpio (the "funk session" is a stem with head and shoulder in left corner and feet in right corner!). Rad move getting into the stem, too. Maybe when we're fresh we can get it, because we can get established pretty consistently above the roof. Then it's only one more hard move to get into the stem and rest before the final locks. Holds may have broken on this route, because I broke one myself as I was falling off on one effort. Also, I created a useful one-finger jam at the start of the stem by removing a small stone with my fingers. Too blown to give the Beach Crack a try, again. What a workout.
