Mt. Humphries, East Arete with Dave Coombs July 89 Just W of Bishop, the Z got us to 8500' on a dirt road which featured a stream crossing. Went to sleep at 6pm that night at an 11000' lake. Up at dawn to deal with scree slopes, gullies, and 4th class arete sections. Summit 12986' at 2:30pm, "screed" down quickly and stresslessly; reached the Z before dark for crucial daylight manuvering past the rough spots. Dave and family (1.8 kids) are heading for Spokane in September, so I was kind of a last shot with him unless I get into more mountaineering. My use of Dave's Swede-O ankle brace saved me.
