Goat Rock - pumping sandstone 10/30/88 I just went toproping at Goat Rock (near Castle Rock) on Sunday with Phyllis, Nancy, Lin Murphy, etc. I failed on a lot of 5.11+ problems, but I made good high points and did succeed on a new 5.11. Nancy is getting really large, but still climbing well (in spite of the baby kicking a lot when she climbs -- due to the adrenaline?). The legendary Yabo (John Yablonski) was also there. He is a nice guy, and he's very strong (his back looks like a bodybuilder). If you haven't heard of him, I believe he was the first guy to solo a 5.12 (Leave it To Beaver in Joshua Tree), and he was also one of the first to do Midnight Lightning (after Kauk and Bachar). I have also heard other stories like falling from a solo attempt on the Good Book and barely catching himself on the ledge, then going back up and making it! (corrections -- Bob?) Lani confirmed that Joel is arriving on Thursday, so it looks like I will get some good climbing in during November. Thesis work is also going smoothly. Clint
