Grading for Canadian coins 1858-1901 1c,25c,50c (Victoria - hair and jewels) Here is the exact grading from the Charlton book (1968, but I think it is still the same today). This text is for the 25c; the text for the 1c is slightly different but almost the same. G - hair over ear worn through VG - no details in the hair over the ear and the jewels in the diadem are partly worn away F - strands of the hair over the ear begin to merge together and jewels slightly blurred VF - hair and the jewels clear but not sharp EF - hair over the ear and jewels of the diadem slightly worn, but generally sharp and clear
