Glen Canyon Park (Miraloma Rocks)

This is the most used bouldering area in the city of San Francisco. Rock climbing has been practiced here as far back as 1932. The first guide to the rocks was published in the Sierra Club newsletter The Yodeler on Jan 30, 1940.

The rock here is hard chirt with horizontal bands that provide good holds. Most of the climbing consists of traversing and/or overhanging boulder problems. The main cliff band is 15'-25' tall. Walk along the stream northwest from the Glen Park Rec Center about 1/2 mile to reach the main rocks. The rocks that are on the east hillside before reaching the main rocks have some easy routes on them but the rock can be loose. The cliffs west of the main area on the south side of the stream have seen a little activity and there is some new potential.
