Spring, 2003

I am a Ph.D student working in the 4D CAD Research Group at the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering in Stanford University. Professor Martin Fischer is my faculty advisor. My research focuses on the support for Architecture/Engineering/Construction decision-making tasks using project managment theories and computer tools. In particular, my interest is in the selection of project alternatives in AEC capital projects (project introduction page). Meanwhile, as partial fulfillment for my Engineer Degree, I completed a technical report assessing state-of-the-art technologies and information standard in an international pilot project.

Autumn, 2001

I am a Ph.D student working in the 4D CAD Research Group at the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering in Stanford University. Professor Martin Fischer is my faculty advisor. My research interest is in Client Briefing and Report.

After receiving my Master of Science degree in Design/Construction Integration in June 2001, I had a summer internship at Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company and Genentech, Inc. working on applying 3D and 4D modeling. During summer, I also joined the 3rd China Synergy Program for Outstanding Youth and had an enlightening trip to China and Hong Kong. It was great to explore chinese culture with more than 180 students from around the world.

From September to December 2001, I am returning to Helsinki, Finland to continue a research study project on an auditorium extension to Alvar Aalto's Helsinki University of Technology main campus building. My task is to study and document state-of-the-art product modeling and analyses software and visualization tools that pertained to the building design and construction profession.

On May 12, 2000, I graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from University of Southern California. I am very grateful to graduate with University Honor--the Order of the Laurel and the Palm. I am one of 28 seniors from the Class of 2000 to be awarded with this highest honor for distinguished leadership and excellent scholarship. In particular, I would like to thank the faculty from both the School of Architecture and the Department of Civil Engineering for their supports and guidance.

Another exciting news came from the School of Engineering, as 1999-2000 President of USC-AGC, I am very proud that our team's hardwork has been recognized with the Dean's Circle Award for Outstanding Student Organization. We have won a trophy and a plaque for our Department.

April, 2000

With a difficult decision to make among offers from 3 of the very best programs in the field of Design and Construction, I have decided to pursue a Master of Science degree at Stanford University. I will enroll in the Design/Construction Integration (DCI) Program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. My graduate study will run from September 2000 to June 2001.

It also gives me great honor to be selected as a recipient of a National Scholarship--2000 Arthur S. Tuttle Memorial National Scholarship, by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Meanwhile, I am working on my itinerary for my traveling fellowship (please click to view the press release and the photo taken before the interview in Chicago). If you have any suggestions or referrals regarding cities, buildings, accommodations, or logistics about the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, or Portugal, please share that with me via email at ckam@mail.com, Thank you!

March, 2000

It is my honor to recieve the 2000 SOM Traveling Fellowship. In particular, I am grateful to Professor Hank Koffman for his nomination and Professor Bob Harris for his guidance in my research. (Please click to view the photo at the interview in Chicago and the press release)

Meanwhile, I have been admitted to the graduate programs at MIT, and with fellowships to U.C. Berkeley and Stanford University. I am looking forward to enriching my understanding of management, inderdisciplinary collaborations, as well as the technical aspects of the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) profession. I would really appreciate if you could send me your viewpoints regarding the 3 graduate schools via email.
