I grew up in St. Petersburg Russia. Soon after high school I moved to United States with my family and did all my post high school education here. I received honors degree in mathematics and degree in computer science from The Ohio State University; after which I moved to California and entered Stanford MS program in computer science at Stanford.

Shortly after September 11 my Marine Corps unit was activated. We spend next year on a top secret mission in the killing deserts surrounding Orange county. Once tax payers realized the colossal waste.. I mean the unquestionable impact that our mission had on homeland security we were sent home.. for three days.. and then to Kuwait. And from there to Iraq. The positive result from this adventure was the I met my wife while hanging out in LA. As it is the case with everyone there, my wife was an aspiring bio-statistian.

Soon after my return I worked for a start-up for about a year and then joined Stanford computer science PhD program, which I am working on since. And if you missed all the other information on my site, it is all about my research.
- As far as mandatory "I love walking on a beach" part: I have several interests. As far as sports I have done many thing in the past, but by now I only activity road bike and scuba dive. While scuba diving I am mainly interested in large underwater animals - sharks, manta rays and so on. I have seen too many corals by now. I love photography and I have a link to my photo site at the top. I do it professionally now - this means I have the nerve to ask people for money. Be ware of people calling themselves professional photographers - they could be good at photography, or just arrogant enough.
