Professional Interests

Computaional mathematics with an emphasis on physical modeling. I love developing new and optimizing old physical models with real world applications. I like the interdisciplinary research environment that combines physics, math, and computer science to make crazy fast, accurate, and useful models of real processes. Although sometimes "useful" is just creating cool pictures/movies and a good sense of satisfaction...

Activities

Skiing, Snowboarding, Skateboarding, Roller Blading, Crew, Kayaking, Hiking, and anything else I find.

Racquetball: I grew up on racquetball in Utah and was very serious about it for a while - winning at the Utah State Junior level and playing the National Junior level for a number of years. I've been getting back into it recently. Stanford FINALLY built courts which will be a huge energizer for the team.

Poker: I got into poker playing nickel and dimes with friends in undergrad. When I started relying on the weekly game for lunch money, I started playing online. Now, I play as MC_Cubed on Full Tilt Poker. It's a great way to make some extra cash (Ok, alot of extra cash). After playing for a while you'll stop throwing things and find Poker Zen relaxing. I swear.

Random Observations:
Skydiving is easier than bungee jumping. It's like Google Maps but in a wind tunnel. It's too surreal to register. On the other hand, jumping off a bridge/cliff has been evolutionarily disadvantageous since legs.
I never miss a flight. Not for lack of trying... it just never happens... I really deserve to miss it most of the time...
