Assignment 3 - Sounds and Images
This project was the one I enjoyed the most. Just having fun and making music that I find compelling are the reasons why I wanted to make music in the first place. I just let myself go on my DAW and came up with a cinematic electronic dance song. To me, the blend of different genres can produce the best music. Blending the richness of a cinematic piece with the powerful production of electronic music give the music a new dimension, where the best of both worlds empathetically add to create something new.
Rheo: 5 horizons Ryioichi Kurokawa was a huge inspiration for me. Watching it takes me on a journey and transports me to wherever the artist wants me to be. I tried to emulate this in a much more minimal manner. Just a series of white lines on a black background move to the music and emphasize its most important parts. I feel that black on white creates a contrasting simplicity that cannot be reproduced by any other tone. It puts the message across effectively. To be this succinct is essential in minimal art: you have to make every little thing count.
Overall I wanted to achieve a monophonic blend of both media to create something that each media cannot fully portray alone, just like in Kurokawa's 5 horizons.
