- Research and evaluate current issues related to writing, communication and technology, present findings to the PWR.
- Research software solutions for teaching and learning communication.
- Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of web pages and all necessary web forms for the Program in Writing and Rhetoric, the Stanford Study of Writing, the Hume Writing Center and Writing in the Major.

- Collaborate with members of the Stanford Study of Writing to create databases, and online submission system.
- Participate in knowledge sharing communities and national conferences in the field.
- Collaborate with other members of the senior staff in the development of new teaching curricula for the second year writing requirement.
- Draft budget and budget projections for various sources of funding for technology.
- Manage the program's technical support systems.
- Develop and implement media production, image manipulation and web development workshops. Write appropriate documentation.
