Tamara Carleton, Ph.D., is a Fellow of the Foundation for Enterprise Development and a Fellow of the Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium (BASIC). Tamara possesses over a decade of industry experience in corporate strategy, technology development, and marketing roles at startups and large companies. She has worked as a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting LLP, specializing in innovation strategy, customer experience, and enterprise applications emerging solutions. Her clients span multiple industries and have included Hewlett-Packard, NVIDIA, Monster Cable, Coca-Cola, Nokia, and JCPenney.
Tamara's current research agenda is radical invention and innovation at the organizational level, which builds on her pioneering study of the innovation practices of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This work is covered in her doctoral thesis, "The Value of Vision in Radical Technological Innovation". Other research topics focus on technology visionary leadership, innovation culture, regional innovation, and foresight strategy. Tamara earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering – Design at Stanford University, an M.S. in Public Relations from Syracuse University, and a B.A. in Communication from The George Washington University.
