My Progress
  • 2001-2002: In high school AP US History as a sophomore I realized I could highlight my book faster and more effectively if I used two colors, one in each hand.
  • Spring 2006: I thought it might be a good challenge to see if I could use both hands equally, so I started doing easy tasks, like eating, with both hands. Using chop sticks left handed was a little tricky at first, because I was still learning to use them right handed!
  • Summer 2006: I decided to take the plunge and start practicing writing with both hands. I started by writing out the alphabet twenty times a day with my left hand (I'm a natural righty), and I started journaling with my left hand too. I also started paying closer attention to what I was doing with what hand, and did my best to switch.
  • Fall 2006: I took my first exam left handed. Granted, it was multiple choice...
  • Spring 2007: I began taking some course notes left handed.
  • Fall 2007: I got the idea to create this web site and started organizing materials. I also began to move from being just left handed or just right handed to using both hands equally and in tandem: true ambidexterity. This is tough, and I am still working at it now.
