History

JASON Project Online is an award-winning, web-based resource for science education. Dr. Robert D. Ballard founded the JASON Project in 1989 after receiving thousands of letters from school children wanting to know how he discovered the RMS Titanic. Since 1989 the JASON Project has taken kids on more than 13 expeditions.

Intended Audience

JASON's primary audience is English-speaking science students in grades 4-9.

Learning Environment

Primarily Designed for Classroom Use

Jason is designed primarily for use in a classroom setting that has access to computers. This could be an entire computer lab, or a small number of computers within a class. Students may also access the site from other locations if they are able.


Activities can be completed:
1. as a class: ask scientists questions, watch online videos

2. individually: teachers can assign interactive modules for lab or homework
