1997 Half Vineman Triathlon

I had been feeling less than fantastic when Skippy and I travelled to Santa Rosa at the end of July for the Half Vineman triathlon. It was to be my last race before Canada, and I wanted it to be a good one. But alas, my energy level was low, my resting heart rate high, and my general state-of-being sluggish and flat. I just didn't feel good. In spite of this, I resolved to start the race and see how things went. I could always pull out, I rationalized, if I felt I was doing myself more harm than good. Just remember that Ironman is one month away....
