Welcome to the homepage of Dr. Brian Moritz. Brian is a Staff Scientist in the Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Sciences (SIMES) and the Theory Institute for Materials and Energy Spectroscopies (TIMES) at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University, as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics and Astrophysics at the University of North Dakota. Brian uses a number of numerical techniques, including exact diagonalization, quantum Monte Carlo, and dynamical mean-field theory, to study the behavior of various models for strongly correlated materials and simulate different spectroscopies, including photoemission, resonant x-ray scattering, and Raman spectroscopy. Part of his work involves understanding the physics revealed by time-resolved, pump-probe experiments, including those performed at the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS).
