SILLY RECORDS

Introduction: I understand some people think I've been making these
up. I'm not. These are actual catalog records for works presently or
formerly held by Stanford and other libraries in the RLIN or OCLC
networks, and have been faithfully transcribed. Ideally, a silly
record is a title that suggests a meaning different from the one
intended by the original author, publisher or cataloger --
preferably a funny one. I also use titles with no alternative
meanings, which have become amusing with the passage of time or
changes in fashion. In a pinch, even a title the author intended to
be funny will do. But none of these are invented: they are SERIOUS
silly records (does that make sense?).
