The Hoop Group,
or,
the Fountain Fixers' Song
by Anonymous

Here is how we Hoop repair:
Strip it down to metal bare,
Prime it white, and, when it's fair,
Free up all the faucets
Of their sludge deposits.

Chorus:
Tent it on the sides and top:
Blast the paint off till we drop.
Come on, now: let's do it! Hop!
Let us get it flowing!

We will paint it once again
When we're finished fixing, then
Tell you the occasion when
You can once more run it --
Not, though, till we've done it.

Chorus:
We've restored it by degrees,
On our hands and on our knees.
Will it work for good, now? Please!
We've no way of knowing.

Run the water through it clear,
And no doubt you needn't fear:
If it's cloudy, though -- oh dear!
It will clog for certain.
Don't let any dirt in!

Chorus:
If you do, then call us back.
Turn us loose: we've got the knack.
We will fix your fountain, Jack,

If you pay what's owing!
