Cleaning Out the Hoop
by Anonymous

The waterfall that cheers our ears
Is sadder than of late.
The curtain that delights our eyes
Is in a sorry state.

They're cleaning out the Hoop this week:
There must have been a need --
Perhaps some algae, germs, or dirt --
Who knows? It was decreed.

They're cleaning out the Hoop this week:
They filled it full of soap.
It lathered into snowy heaps.
Oh, how are we to cope?

They're cleaning out the Hoop this week:
They drained its pool dry.
They turned it off and washed it down,
And now they're done. Oh my!

They're cleaning out the Hoop this week,
So now it must be clean.
We have to suffer through these times --
But, oh! The times between!
