1.  BRANNER LIBRARY CLOSED ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8

Branner Earth Sciences Library and Map Collection will be closed on
Saturday November 8.  As part of the on-going "seismic upgrade" to Mitchell
Building, a large concrete pour is scheduled for that day.  Volumes of
concrete will be poured directly behind the thin plywood barriers at all
four corners of the second floor, and the noise in the library promises to
be extraordinary.  Branner will be open, as usual, on Sunday November 9,
from 1-10 p.m.

2.  LARRY DAHL MOVES INTO NEW POSITION

As SUL/AIR moves forward with its programmatic planning for the
reopening/reoccupation of Green Library West, a number of staff have been
involved in determining how to redeploy Green Library collections to best
support users of the Humanities and Area Studies and the Social Science
Resource Centers.  Once those deployment decisions are finalized, much
work will be needed to determine precise fit and to plan and manage the
actual collection redeployment process.  Larry Dahl, Head of Green
Library's Stack Division since 1990, has moved into a new role as Library
Collection Deployment Specialist effective November 1st so that this
effort can receive its required attention during the next two years.
Larry will also assist as needed in collection redeployment activities in
SAL and the branch libraries.   Larry will continue to have
his office in Room 033A on the lower level of Green East.  Please join us
in wishing Larry all the best as he begins this new endeavor.
