1.  LIBRARY NOTICES NOW DELIVERED THROUGH ELECTRONIC MAIL

Effective September 15, 1997, the Stanford University Libraries, the Robert Crown Law Library, and the Hoover Institution Library will send library notices through electronic mail. This change, which will affect notices relating to availability, recalls, overdue materials, and bills, will speed the delivery of time-sensitive information and save the libraries staff time.

Since all students receive an email account when they come to Stanford, they will not be given the option of requesting paper delivery of their library notices except by special permission. However, Stanford faculty and staff may request that library notices be delivered in paper form to their home or office address. The Libraries have sent all faculty and staff a form that allows them to make such a request. For more information, contact the Priveleges Office by calling 723-1492 or sending email to
priv@sulmail.stanford.edu.

2.  STAFF TOUR

Sept. 3, between 11:30 and 1:30, bring your brown bag and join Elena Danielson and Cissie Hill for a staff tour of Poetry in Revolution: The Pasternak Family Papers, the current exhibit in the Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion.   The exhibit highlights the Hoover Archives' new collection of the poet's letters.  In addition there are many rare books, such as the pocket-sized two-volume edition of Doctor Zhivago, perfect for smuggling into the Soviet Union.

The Pavilion is located next to Hoover Tower.  For additional information call Cissie Hill at 723-3563.

3.  RLIN, EUREKA, AND ZEPHYR SERVICES

Due to an upgrade of the RLG mainframe RLIN, Eureka, and Zephyr services will not be available from Friday, September 5 from 7:30 PM through midnight Saturday, September 6.

4.  SLSA ANNUAL PICNIC FAQ
 
The what?
EVERY YEAR SLSA SPONSORS A FREE ALL LIBRARY STAFF PICNIC.
Where?
When: Wednesday, September 10, 1997
Where: Galvez Mall Lawn
Time:   11am-2:00pm
Does it cost?
No! See above answer to "The What".
What kind of food?
Mexican...the same caterer as last year.
I don't eat meat?
We have ordered extra vegeterian this year. There should be plenty.
Where do I get the tickets?
We sent them to various department people. If you don't know who to get them from, email Andy Eisenberg asnbg@leland
