2. Stanford Staffers

Stanford Staffers, in case you don't know about us, is a campus wide organization composed of Faculty, Staff, and Retirees. We have monthly events planned that are both educational and fun. We also frequently combine with other groups to sponsor multi-cultural and community events, such as "Springfest 97" on May 22, from 11:00 am at the Bechtel International Center. Best of all, membership is FREE.

For more information, check out our brand new Web page at: http://www.stanford.edu/group/Staffers/.

To join, send your name and email address to Mr. T. at: gervacio@stanford.edu. It's that easy.

3. Recent and Future Changes in the Systems Office

The standing joke in Systems these days is that if we ever pause in our flurry of changes, we'd get around to an update to SUL News Notes. Given the unlikelihood of that event, here's our current news!

Winter brought many personnel changes to the Systems Office; people left for new frontiers, new positions were hired, and folks are moving in these days. Leaving us were Richard Anderson and Glenna Nesmith. Richard and his wife have packed up and moved to Moab, Utah to embark on life in a new place. However, he's going to be helping us part time (now that's telecommuting!) online for the next 6 months. Glenna accepted a new position in the Law School in early February. She's working for Joan Galle in the Law School doing server and network administration. Richard can still be reached at rnanders@sulmail, and Glenna at gnesmith@leland.

Two new programmer positions were approved for Systems this year, one permanent, and one fixed-term. Pete Adams joined Systems in late February in the permanent position, and Darsi Rueda transferred in from Branner this week to help us out in the fixed-term position. Both Pete and Darsi have been undergoing Unicorn and Oracle training, and will be hard at work within the programmer/development groups in Systems. Deni Wicklund joined Systems on April 16th in a training capacity to fill Glenna's shoes in desktop support. Her first year here will be heavy on training, but she'll also be around to help with desktop support for the administrative groups and service calls. We have not yet filled Richard's position, so keep posted for more notes from Systems!

Drop by and welcome our new staff next time you're up our way -- we're very happy to have them with us. You can reach our new staff at:

Peter: 5-7909, or padams@sulmail
Darsi: 5-6927, or dlrueda@sulmail
Deni: 5-7898, or dwicklun@sulmail
