All Libraries! Summer Fiesta Next Thursday (9/5)

The summer picnic will be held next Thursday, from 11:00-2:00, on the Galvez lawn mall (the lawn field adjacent to the Galvez module). Marcos Figueroa Joins Green's Loan Division

Please join us in welcoming Marcos Figueroa to the Loan Division. Marcos comes to us from Lane Medical Library where he has been employed since 1984. He will be responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations in the Loan Division and will serve as the Division's supervisor on Saturdays.

We feel fortunate to have someone coming on board with more than 10 years of circulation experience. Marcos begins his work in Loan on September 5, just in time to join hands with us as we move from NOTIS into the UNICORN environment.

Please stop by to introduce yourselves and welcome Marcos. I am sure he will appreciate having a few familiar faces around as he begins the task of learning this new environment and mastering Unicorn, all at the same time! Thank You.

Aids Quilt Work Continues for Kevin Freeman

We will continue to meet on Thursdays from 5 to 7pm in the Archive of Recorded Sound (in the basement of Braun Music Center), until further notice. We still aim to complete the panel so that Kevin will be remembered in the AIDS Memorial Quilt, to be displayed in Washington D.C. this October.

Just drop in when you can to see the tall velvet figure and sit for a few minutes to help put him together. Every little bit of help, helps. Call Richard Koprowski at the Archive (3-9312) or Mimi Tashiro at the Music Library (5-1144) for more information. There is one gathering scheduled for September 15, in San Francisco so that Kevin's friends who live in the city can participate. Please contact Mimi for details.

As Braun's doors are locked at 5 pm during the intersession, it would be helpful for those planning to come to call the Archive (3-9312) right before you come so someone will be able to let you into the building.

No sewing skills are required.

-- Richard Koprowski, Sound Archive, and Mimi Tashiro, Music Library
