In Bloom
by Brian Kunde
May is wild flower season
Out on Campus Drive.
Every spring, for some odd reason,
It comes quite alive.

Nice to have that dash of color
As we dash along.
What a shame it shall be duller
Before very long.

That which spring impels to blossom
Drops its color fast
With the summer, playing possum:
Good things rarely last.

When the season’s gone that brought ’em,
Flowers disappear.
Come enjoy ’em while we’ve got ’em;
Otherwise—next year.
