Paul Henry Hunkey3, born April 12, 1908 in Rockwood Township, Wadena County, Minnesota, the son of Henry William Hunke2 and Anna Clara (Mautasch) Hunke.

In 1910 he lived with his parents on a rented farm in Rockwood Township.

In 1920 he lived with his parents on a farm owned free of mortgage in Rockwood Township. Paul was attending school at the time

Paul worked on the family farm and surrounding farms into his early 20s. He started doing mechanical work on family cars and for neighbors during his teen years, and spent two or three winters in Chicago in the late 1920s and early 1930s doing mechanical work.

In 1930 he lodged with the family of Hugh Monroe in Rockwood Township. He worked as a laborer on their farm. His brother Henry was then lodging on the neighboring farm of Paul C. Gilbertson.

He married, on April 15, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lorna Dorothy Jacobsen. She was born January 20, 1914 in Plevna, Fallon County, Montana, the daughter of Peter Jacobsen and Anna Katherine (Martes) Jacobsen. She was a chicken picker in Wadena.

After his marriage, Paul continued working on farms north of Wadena. In 1935 Paul, Lorna and their oldest child lived on a farm in rural Wadena County, Minnesota. That same year they moved to Wadena where Paul started his own business, Paul Hunkey's Auto Service, which lasted over sixty years, surviving two fires. He lived in Wadena for sixty-six years and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In 1940 Paul, Lorna and their two children lived at 402 Fifth Street, Wadena, Wadena County, California. Lorna's widowed mother Katherine Moore was living with them. Paul's occupation was given as auto mechanic in his own business.

Lorna was editor at the Wadena Pioneer Journal during World War II. In 1946 she won a Minnesota and national award for the best weekly newspaper edited by a woman. She later purchased her own newspaper, the Hubbard County News in Nevis, Minnesota, which she operated until 1957. In that year she sold the paper and moved to Minneapolis, where she was business manager for the Lutheran Digest for twelve years.

Paul died August 31, 2001, aged 93, at his home in Wadena. He was survived by two children, seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. A visitation was held September 6, 2001, followed by a service at 2:00 P.M. of the same day at the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena. Pallbearers were Patrick Hunke, Scott Hunke, Nate Hunke, Dong Heern, Darwin Heern, and Dave Stigman. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Heern and Jerome Uselman. Interment was at the Wadena Cemetery (apparently identical with Calvary Cemetery) with Johnson Memorial Home of Wadena in charge of arrangements. His grave in the Hunkey family section of Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, Wadena County, Minnesota bears a marker with the following inscription:

Appendix.

After her divorce from Paul Hunke, Lorna Dorothy (Jacobsen) Hunke married (second), May 24, 1969 in —, Hubbard County, Minnesota, Dr. Lothar Sigismund Imm. He was born July 19, 1900 in —, the son of August F— Imm and Mathilda F— (Bejar) Imm. He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army reserve.

Lorna and Lothar's Social Security cards were both issued in Minnesota. Lorna was a long-time member of Mensa. Politically she was a Republican.

She founded the Lutheran Review in 1969, and moved to Houston, Texas. There she was instrumental in the establishment of the town of Roman Forest, Montgomery County, Texas, incorporated in July, 1975. Lorna served as the town as alderwoman from 1975-1976, and one of its first mayors, assuming office in 1976. She was also a member of the Civic Association. She resided at 306 Canary in the nearby community of New Caney at the time. Afterwards she retired to Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas, where she resided about five years before moving to San Antonio due to her husband's failing health.

Lothar S. Imm's last residence was San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas 78240. He died October 24, 1988 in Bexar County, Texas. Interment was on October 24, 1988 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.

After her husband's death Lorna purchased a partially finished housing development and started Imm Construction Company to completed the development.

In early 2000, Lorna's son and daughter-in-law spent three months getting her settled into a care facility in San Antonio.

Lorna Dorothy Imm's last residence was Waite Park, Stearns County, Minnesota 56387. She died of pneumonia December 15, 2000 in San Antonio, Texas, aged 86. She was survived by two children, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Interment was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
