<- Stein, Gertrude, 1874-1946.
American novelist, poet and playwright born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised in Oakland, California. Spent most of her adult life in Paris as a key figure in the expatriate artistic community there. Known for her idiosyncratic and repetitive style.
  • <- The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas. 1933.
The story of the lives of Stein and her life partner Alice B. Toklas through the early 1930s, written by the former in the character of the latter. Portrays the literary and artistic scene in Paris before and after World War I. Considered more accessible than most of Stein's works.
