<- Beerbohm, Max, 1872-1956.
Full name: Henry Maximilian Beerbohm. English parodist, caricaturist, drama critic and radio personality, born in London. Knighted in 1939.
  • <- Zuleika Dobson. 1911.
Beerbohm's only novel, the tale of a femme fatale who fascinates all the students of Oxford University but is unable to reciprocate the love of any who fall under her spell. More amusing than it has any right to be. Per the author, the heroine's first name is pronounced with a long E in the middle syllable, not an A or an I as some would have it.
