Steven J. Bethard
I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Stanford Department of Computer Science. I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Cognitive Science from the University of Colorado in 2007, and worked for a year there as a Research Associate at Digital Learning Sciences and the Center for Language and Education Research. I've been at Stanford since January, with a break in June and July to join a summer workshop at the Johns Hopkins University Human Language Technology Center of Excellence.
My research explores a variety of topics in statistical natural language processing (NLP), including temporal and causal structure, semantic role labeling, opinions and subjectivity, topic modeling, citation analysis and machine translation. I've worked with a variety of domains including newswire, educational webpages, scentific research papers, biomedical texts and clinical records. Detailed information about my research is available on my Publications and Research Interests pages.
