Brian's Australia Trip

Section 4

Next I flew to Canberra. Canberra is the capital of Australia, and is clean, well organized, and green.

This is a fountain that was a gift from some other country.

This is Parliament House, on Capital Hill.

The buildings are open to the public, and only 10 years old.

This is looking across Canberra to Parliament House.

The lake is actually man-made!

The main point of going to Canberra was to meet my friend Darryl.

Darryl lives on the coast, 2 hours south of Canberra, and is the proud owner of two VWs.

Darryl also owns this beach, well so-to-speak.

Darryl and I did a great 6-hour hike on the "Corn Trail" which was built to provide a way to move supplies to the coast.

Amazing variety of vegetation here.

And this is an ant hill.

Next we went up to Sydney to meet Janelle and Anthony, who I met in Europe when I met Darryl.

We drove into the Blue Mountains, and did a 4-hour hike near Wentworth Falls.

Another look at the Blue Mountains.

The Blue Mountains are Blue because of the gasses from eucalyptus trees.

Here are Janelle, Anthony and Darryl showing off their good looks!

A hard-earned dinner on Manly Beach, back near Sydney.

Janelle is fortunate to live in Manly, a beautiful suburb of Sydney.

Manly is a 20-minute ferry ride from Downtown Sydney.

Sydney's Taronga Park Zoo, with a great view of the city...

...even if you're not all that tall.

This sun bear was pretty cool.

Sun bears come from southeast Asia, and are the smallest bears.

And on my last night, the grand treatment from Anthony.

This is Anthony and Janelle barbecuing outside Anthony's house.
