Pauline Brutlag. Known variously as Deborah, Moon and Anagit.... all personas are parts of me. Moon is the new-age, flower child of the three. She is strong and outspoken yet mellow, willing to tackle any global issue, and revels in creating peaceful moods and resolving conflicts. Deborah is the romantic. She dresses to kill, she's the master of the flirt, she spends hours daydreaming about her current beau, and doesn't mind if he pays for dinner or opens doors for her. Anagit is the intellectual and the dreamer. She contemplates the technical needs of the first human colonies on Mars, she adores Shakespeare, loves to travel to historical sites and regularly questions current scientific paradigms. Blend these women together, and the result is me, Pauline. I'm part poet, dancer, musician, scientist, seer and lover. I've watched the terns fly into the sunset on a coral island in Australia. I've dropped a silk kerchief from the top of the Eiffel Tower. I've danced in the snow on the peaks of the Swiss Alps. I've gazed at the stars with my love on the beach in Monterey. I've strode down the cobbled streets of Bruge hand in hand with my best friend. I've held my brother while being serenaded on a Venetian gondola. I've been blessed by monks in Kyoto. And I've seen the midnight sun from top deck in Alaska. But I have yet to live independently, find true love, and grow old. I have so much to learn.
I am 21 and have just graduated from Stanford University with a major in Human Biology. I have ecclectic academic interests ranging from Ancient Religions to Computer Science. Despite this, I think I've managed to find a niche that will allow me to indulge in my many passions. On my way to a career in educational software design, I'll be spending the next year getting a Masters at the Stanford School of Education's program inLearning, Design, and Technology.
I love to swim, dance, converse long and deeply with good friends, burn candles and incense, walk on the beach, read sci-fi/fantasy, and listen to good live Irish music. I do all of these things as often as time will permit. If I won a million dollars, I would be perfectly happy to buy a guitar and some lessons and take to the road with my dog and my newly aquired wireless modem and used VW van (that I painted over purple with white daisies). I would spend my days travelling the States, giving music and laughter to children and parents everywhere, free of charge.
I hope you spend a few minutes exploring Pauline's Place, you might find something of interest to you. If you have any comments or suggestions, don't hesitate to send me e-mail.
