| Protocol Review
Once
your protocol is submitted, the staff will check for completeness
and missing content. If more information is needed, the protocol
will be returned to you with comments. To access those comments,
open the protocol and click the IACUC Comments button on the left
hand navigation bar. Once the concerns are addressed, submit the
protocol again.
Once the protocol is complete, the review will begin. If the IACUC has comments
,you will receive an
email notifying you that you have received comments. On the Home
page, click on the status "Comments Received" to access
the comments.

From the Comments page, you should:
- Make a response to each comment.
- Make any necessary updates to the protocol application
form by clicking
and choosing Edit.
- Submit these changes to the panel manager.
When you update your protocol, the system will save
your previous response and your new response. A new button will appear on the left hand navigation column titled "Updates". The Updates page has links to every change that has been made to the protocol since the last review. On pages with updates, the panel manager
and the panel members will see a "version" icon: .
Clicking this icon will take them to a screen where they can view
your previous and current response to each question.
This process of comments and responses may be repeated several times.
Finally, your protocol will be brought to a meeting
and, in general, will be voted upon. Once your protocol is approved,
you will receive an approval memo. You cannot begin your research
until you receive your official approval memo.
After approval, you can always access your protocol
from the Approved Protocols section in the lower left hand corner
of the Home page. From this page, you can also start a revision or renewal of your protocol. |
