University
life is not just about studying and getting a decent degree. A unique
and remarkable experience of university life lies in a student's involvement
in a wide variety of activities offered by the university. Among those,
student clubs constitute a major part of the extra-curricular activies
since student clubs are the organizations that offer an abundance of different
kinds of events for each students. As a result, I find myself heavily
involved in different kinds of student clubs despite the tremendous amount
of work as an Engineering Science student.
I find that student clubs are just as important as school, if not more.
By being an exective and organizing different events in a student club,
one really learns how to plan, prepare and run an event/show and work with
others as a team. I learnt how to communicate effectively, to understand/compromise
with different opinions. I gained leadership skills throught different
positions in different clubs. I also learnt a lot of public speaking,
business and promotional skills (Thanks to the large number of Chinese
Student Associations in U of T, chinese student clubs are EXTREMELY competitive
and we are forced to constantly think of new ways to make ourselves stand
out among others. Everything is just like companies competing against
each other). I am also suprised to have learnt a lot of politics along
the way. With all the skills that can be learnt in student clubs, I do think
that those are something vital to the success of one's life in every aspect.
Lastly, it also expand my circle of friends and enrich my university life by a lot
and I have so much fun participating in club activities .
Here
are the clubs I am/was involved in. Please take a look !

Alliance of Ontario Universities Chinese Student Organizations
The
Alliance is the biggest and most well-known Chinese student body in

consists of 8 chinese studentclubs from 6 Universities across Ontario,
the main purpose of the Alliance is to promote and educate the public
to the Chinese culture as well as giving something in return to the
community we belong to. Furthermore, with a wider base to draw from,
the Alliance hope to unite students' voices on a greater scale and ultimately
the voices will speak as one that represents all the chinese students
